How TrueVetCost makes money
The short version: some links on this site are affiliate links to pet insurance companies or quote-comparison services. If you click one and buy a policy (or complete a quote), we may earn a commission. You never pay more because of it.
Why you can still trust the verdicts
- The verdict is computed by a model whose assumptions and sources are public — not written by a salesperson.
- Roughly a third of verdicts say don't buy insurance — and on those pages the primary recommendation is a savings plan, with quote links tucked behind a "want to check anyway?" fold.
- We never rank insurers by commission, publish "top 10 insurer" listicles, or hide the self-insure option.
- Cost figures come from published vet price sheets and real-invoice data — sources a reader can check in one click.
The formal bit
In compliance with the FTC's endorsement guides (16 CFR Part 255): TrueVetCost participates in affiliate programs with pet insurance providers and comparison services, and receives compensation for referred leads and sales. Compensation never influences the calculator's output, cost data, or editorial verdicts. Pages containing affiliate links carry a disclosure near the links themselves.
What we don't do
- No sponsored verdicts or paid placements inside editorial content.
- No selling or sharing of anything you type into the calculator — it runs entirely in your browser and we never see it.
- No cookies beyond privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (aggregate page counts and button clicks).
This site provides general information, not veterinary or financial advice. Costs are estimates from cited sources; insurance decisions should account for your own finances and any policy's actual terms.
